Former England defender Rio Ferdinand thinks Kobbie Mainoo and Cole Palmer will help the team control the ball better if they play like they did against Serbia.
Jude Bellingham headed the winning goal for England to grab the first three points of Euro 2024. After getting the goal, Gareth Southgate turned to focus on a tight game. The team almost lost the goal as well, but Jordan Pickford, who saved them, helped.
In Rio’s view, who watched the game, it was pointed out that if the team wants to play with a focus on ball possession and tightness, players like Mainoo and Palmer would be more useful.
“This game needs a little more control,” Rio told the Promotion ufabet. “Which players can do that? Kobby Mainoo might be right, if he could play a little sooner if possible.”
“But there are players like Cole Palmer who have the cockiness and the courage to say that. ‘Give me the ball’, the way Tadic came onto the field for Serbia, he came down and said give me the ball. I’ll take care of it for you guys.”
For the next game, England will meet Denmark on Thursday, while Serbia will face Slovenia.
